This post is to spot light new behavior in team explorer 2010 that many existing source control/TFS administrators will appreciate.
In TFS, when you want to change the permissions for a source control path (for instance a branch), you choose to remove the inherit security settings check box. Previously (in TFS 2005/2008), this blanked out all the permissions for ALL groups (not just the group you had selected). So, if you forgot to set a user or group with the manage security rights, you could not longer go back and manage it. The workaround was to call your TFS admin and could log onto the application tier and fix it.
Now in 2010, when the inherit security settings check box is removed, all values for all groups are kept by default. You simply review the rights and not longer have to worry about pressing the OK button to early.
