Are you using SQL Server 2008 or 2008 R2 ENTERPRISE Edition with your TFS 2010 installation? If so, then you might be risking your data because of a high-risk bug in SQL Server 2008 and you should patch it ASAP. This bug only applies to ENTERPRISE Edition (not Standard Edition). You can see which edition you have installed by running the following query against your server:
SELECT @@VERSION
If you have...
- SQL Server 2008 Enterprise ...then install SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU6 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977443)
- SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ...then install SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM CU7 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2507770) ...or upgrade to SP1 CU1
- SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 then install SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU1 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2544793)
If you have Reporting Services or Analysis Services installed as part of your system and either of these components are located on a different server, then remember that those servers should be patched the same way as well if you want to avoid problems; Reporting Services and Analysis Services are SQL Server components.
