Meet our featured InCycle Team Member of the Month! Daniel Mann has worked at InCycle Software as a Senior Development Consultant since 2012.

What are you doing at InCycle Software?

I have been a software development consultant with InCycle Software for the past two years. Before joining InCycle, I spent over a decade designing and writing software, and I wore many hats within organizations at various points in my career: System administrator, developer, team lead, and Scrum Master. I am passionate about writing good, loosely-coupled, easily-testable software, unit testing, and modern DevOps practices. Since the summer of 2013, I have served as InCycle’s technical lead on Release Management, and have spent countless hours helping organizations improve their software deployment practices.

What do you enjoy doing at InCycle?

At past jobs, I’ve always been the first person to volunteer to mentor new team members, just because I really enjoy helping people reach that “ah-hah!” moment where a new technique “clicks” in their head and it all makes sense. Working at InCycle means I get to have that happen almost every week – every time I finish up with a client, I know that I’ve helped mentor them and taught them some awesome new things.

What is your best experience working at InCycle?

The first project I worked on at InCycle is still my favorite – PreEmptive Analytics for TFS. I got to work with a fellow consultant at InCycle, the PreEmptive team, and some folks from Microsoft on writing and delivering a really cool piece of software.

What do you dislike the most?

It always makes me sad when people are so set in their ways that they can’t appreciate new tools, technologies, and techniques for writing software. The industry moves so quickly!

What do you like doing during your free time?

I keep my programming skills sharp by hacking on personal projects and contributing answers on Stack Overflow. When I’m not programming, I’m mangling beautiful pieces of music while trying to become a proficient guitar player, spending time with my family, or reading cheesy books that are all about robots, dragons, and robo-dragons.

Thank you Daniel for taking the time to answer these questions! Being a Software Development Consultant is definitely an exciting challenge for those who love continuous improvement and application lifecycle management. Interested in a consulting career? We are hiring!
