Lots of news today from Microsoft Connect -- way too much for one blog post! Here are the highlights:
- Visual Studio / TFS / Release Management 2013 Update 4 is out!
- Visual Studio 2015 Preview is available!. The .NET framework is also losing its traditional version number -- the next release of .NET will be .NET 2015, not .NET 4.6 or 5.0. This will help clear up the confusion between compiler version, framework version, and CLR version.
- The .NET Framework is now open-source!
- C# 6 / VB .NET 14 language features are finalized!
- Microsoft has released Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition, which is a full-featured, free version of Visual Studio. No more "Express for Web" or "Express for Desktop"!
More big news is coming, so stay tuned!
