Happy VS2015 RTM Day!

It's here! Visual Studio 2015 has launched! There are too many new features to talk about (plus, I'm excited to get it installed and start playing with it), so I won't go into details here.

Along with Visual Studio, we have new versions of just about all of Microsoft's developer toolchain, with the very sad exception of Team Foundation Server.

However, Release Management 2015 did come out today. This is (as far as I know!) the last release of the old-style Release Management Server / Client / Agent package. For TFS 2015 Update 1, we'll get a new, integrated Release Management experience.

RM 2015 has fairly little in the way of new features, but it has some worthwhile changes that make it a useful upgrade:

  • Big performance improvements in the client
  • Support for releasing from the new Task-based build system in TFS 2015

For those of us not quite on the bleeding edge, TFS 2013 and VS 2013 Update 5 also was released today, consisting of bugfixes. There's no RM Update 5.
